THE COCKPIT OF LEGENDARY SPORTS CARS

INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION

Just like their automotive colleagues from the 50-60s, the developers at DAVOSA have been particularly creative with the dial of the Newton Speedometer. On the lowest level, the hour hand has been replaced by a disc that reliably indicates the current hour in a window in the upper third of the next dial level by means of the red arrow marking. An index scale refers to the minutes, which the only conventional hand circles from the centre with aplomb. The outer frame is formed by a third level which, instead of the usual hour markers, repeats the minutes in steps of 5 in a no-frills classical typography. In the centre, the permanent seconds hand discreetly rotates in the form of a matt silver-coloured disc with a red line accent.

Exceptional readability

This fine composition is available either in neutral black with white SuperLumiNova® BGW9 or in a bicolour look in grey-black with natural SuperLumiNova®, which develops a yellow-green shimmer in daylight. In poor lighting conditions, the luminous material allows you to see the hours and minutes in either bright blue or bright green. The readability certainly takes some getting used to, but once you figure out how it works, the simple yet effective design is fascinating.

Aesthetic precision

The DAVOSA Newton Speedometer Automatic is driven by the Swiss automatic movement DAV 3032, whose skeletonised rotor with a gold-backed DAVOSA star also impresses with its glass back. This is individually screwed in four times and is part of the three-piece stainless steel case (316L), which is manufactured using the most modern methods. Matte and polished surfaces alternate, the bezel takes up the curvature of the transparent anti-reflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the conical crown is knurled for a good grip and bears the DAVOSA star on the outside. It withstands an atmospheric pressure of 5bar.
